Who We Are
The Wellington Seafarers (Welfare) Centre provides welfare services to all seafarers visiting the port of Wellington, New Zealand.

At the Wellington Seafarers Centre, we do all that we can to care for seafarers, whether through the provision of WIFI - so they can stay in touch with loved ones back home - visiting them while they're in the hospital, or stepping in to make sure they're getting fair treatment from their employers. Whatever might be needed we try to provide.

Centre volunteer
"The days of languorous shore leave are long gone. Overnight stays are unheard of, and sailor towns are a distant memory. In better ports, seafarers head for a seamen's mission."

Next to Shed 39
We have a beautiful modern Seafarers Centre located at Portacom P11 in the Pipitea Village, right next to Shed 39 at CentrePort, Wellington.
Our Seafarers Centre has keypad access so seafarers can gain access to the Centre 24/7/365.

Crewmembers are invited to come to the Seafarers Centre to relax and unwind, use the free WIFI, enjoy a cuppa tea and a biscuit, and help themselves to free magazines, books, SIM cards and other resources that we have available, free of charge.

Ship Visiting
One Seafarer at a Time
Without a physical seafarers centre, we take our services directly to seafarers on board their ships. We have a team of ship visitors, led by our Chaplain Rev. Lance Lukin and our Ship Welfare Visitor, Romeo Apache (pictured right). We can be found in the port any day of the week either on a ship or in our temporary seafarer centre in the cruise terminal.
